The show, to be held at May 7 Square in Dien Bien city, will be a national-level event directed by the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, stated Tran Ly Ly, Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at a regular press meeting on April 11.

Approximately 180 professional artists along with roughly 780 from other forces will perform at this event. Apart from young singers such as Tung Duong and Duong Hoang Yen, numerous veteran artists including Quang Tho and Duong Minh Duc will also participate in the event.

The ministry plans to hold a meeting with the Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee on April 12 to secure the most optimal preparations for the event, the official added.

A diverse range of activities are being conducted to commemorate the anniversary of the victory, which compelled the French colonialists to engage in negotiations and sign the Geneva Accords, thereby ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina in July 1954. This brought an end to the extended French colonial rule and heralded a new stage for the revolution in Indochina. This was a significant and extremely momentous triumph in the history of Vietnam.

Under the Geneva Accords, for the first time, the French Government and each state participating in the Geneva Conference pledged to respect the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Vietnam and to refrain from any interference in the country’s internal affairs. The French troops were required to withdraw, while North Vietnam achieved complete liberation, embarked on the path of socialist construction, and became a strong and dependable rear base for the people of South Vietnam to advance the struggle for national liberation and reunification.
