Mid-month Huong Pagoda Festival coming soon

Northern Vietnam's biggest festival spans three months and draws in hundreds of thousands of pilgrims.

The Huong (Perfume) Pagoda Festival, with the theme “Safe – Civilized – Friendly”, will take place in the outskirts of Hanoi, specifically in My Duc District, from February 12th (the second day of the Lunar New Year) to May 11th (the fourth day of the fourth lunar month).

The festival will officially open on February 15th, 2024 (or January 6th, 2024) at Thien Tru Pagoda’s Yard – Huong Pagoda Complex, as announced by Dang Van Canh, Deputy Chairman of the My Duc District People’s Committee.

As usual, the festival organizing committee will provide three bus lines equipped with 110 electric cars to transport visitors from the main bus stations to the pagoda area.

Furthermore, there will be strict security measures and food safety control. Visitors will be required to purchase electronic tickets for the attraction, priced at VND120,000 (US$5) per person. Boat rides will range from VND65,000 ($2.67) to VND85,000 ($3.49) per person.

For those who prefer a different experience, cable car rides are available. Round-trip tickets cost VND220,000 ($9) per adult and VND150,000 (about $6) per child. One-way tickets are priced at VND150,000 ($6) for adults and VND100,000 ($4) for children.

Located approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Hanoi, the Perfume Pagoda is a renowned Buddhist temple and a captivating tourist attraction in northern Vietnam.

This famous destination comprises a collection of Buddhist pagodas and shrines nestled on the limestone cliffs of Huong Son, also known as Perfume Mountain.

The Perfume Pagoda Festival is considered the largest Buddhist festival in northern Vietnam and holds significant meaning in the spiritual life of Vietnamese people, particularly Vietnamese Buddhists.
