The JBAD is initiating a tree plantation project in collaboration with Japanese enterprises in Da Nang. This project is part of a series of activities planned for 2023 that aim to strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and Japan, as well as Japan and Da Nang, according to Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the Union.
Tuyen stated that the star apple trees, which will be grown in Lien Chieu District’s Park, will serve as a symbol of the close and enduring ties between the two countries, as well as between Da Nang and its Japanese partners.
Hirayama Keiji, Head of JCCID, described these star apple trees as a representative symbol of the longstanding and robust relationship between Japan and Vietnam.
Keiji Hirayama also emphasized that this tree planting event not only marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan but also contributes to a greener future for both countries.
Shimonishi Kiyoshi, Deputy Head of the Japanese General Consulate in Da Nang, mentioned various cultural exchanges and activities that have taken place in Vietnam, including Da Nang, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the nations. These activities include a painting and writing competition focused on Japan for students in the city, as well as free community concerts by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) Five, and the annual Japanese Cultural Day in Da Nang.
Da Nang served as a destination for the official visit of Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko to Vietnam.
The city is currently home to 228 investment projects from Japan, totaling USD 1.04 billion in value. These projects have created 40,000 jobs in central Vietnam.
Da Nang has been actively promoting increased investment from Japanese businesses in Kisarazu, Yokohama, Osaka, Chiba, and Kanagawa, in Japan.
Since 2017, over 300 students from a private university in Da Nang have been employed by Japanese companies for work and study opportunities in Japan.
Furthermore, nine cities in Japan, including Fukuoka, Yokohama, Maebashi, Chiba, Shizuoka, Tokyo, Tottori, and Nagasaki, along with 82 Japanese businesses, have signed cooperation agreements for human resources training and employment from central Vietnam.
The Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resort & Spa, located in Lien Chieu district, has been recognized as the largest Japanese investment in Da Nang.
Additionally, four prefectures in Japan, including Kisarazu, Kawasaki, Sakai, and Yokohama, have established friendships and cooperation with Da Nang. Since 2014, Da Nang has been hosting the annual Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Day.
In 2020, Japan upgraded its Consulate Office in Da Nang City to a General Consulate, just one year after its establishment.
