The municipality’s People’s Committee and the French Embassy are organizing a week-long event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Displayed are 684 maps, documents, and images showcasing the city’s architectural landmarks, expansion plans until 2030 with a vision for 2050, and notable achievements in recent years.
According to Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Tho, Hai Phong’s unique charm is defined by its collection of buildings with French architectural influences. These structures have stood the test of time, carrying cultural significance for over a century.
He noted that these works exemplify the fusion of Vietnamese and French cultures in the city. Local authorities have placed great importance on preserving and promoting the heritage’s value.
Thierry Van De Wyngaert, former President of the French Academy of Architecture and current President of the France-Vietnam Academy of Architecture, remarked that the exhibits offer a glimpse into the buildings designed by French architects during the 19th and 20th centuries in Hai Phong.
He expressed his hope that similar exhibitions will be organized in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Paris.
