A delegation of travel agents from various countries, including Russia, Poland, Austria, India, Romania, and Italy visited Ben Tre, Vietnam as part of their attendance at the 17th International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC 2023). The purpose of their visit was to promote the tourism and services of the Mekong Delta province to international travel businesses, as well as to establish connections with local tourism service providers.
During their two-day stay, the delegation participated in a range of activities, such as boat tours, visits to coconut candy, mat weaving, and ornamental plant craft villages, and traditional music performances. The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Ben Tre also hosted a gala dinner to welcome the delegation and provide information on local travel products and services.
Blessed with a river network, Ben Tre aims to develop eco- and waterway tourism. The province is committed to showcasing its tourism offerings, traditional culture, and local resources to attract more visitors and facilitate tourism growth. Collaboration with international travel firms and media agencies is also sought to promote trade and investment in the region’s tourism sector.
Ben Tre has been investing in its infrastructure and is focused on developing its tourism brand associated with coconuts, a key product in the Mekong Delta. The province saw over 1.4 million tourist arrivals, including nearly 249,000 international visitors, in the first eight months of the year, generating an estimated revenue of VND1.789 trillion (US$74.7 million). During the recent National Day holiday, Ben Tre received over 44,000 tourists, resulting in a turnover of over VND48 billion ($2 million).
