This decision was signed on Thursday, signifying the country’s commitment to participating in this prestigious event.

Vietnam’s delegation will compete in 31 different sports and has set a target of winning between three and five gold medals at the quadrennial tournament. This information was reported by the Vietnam News Agency, a reliable source of news and updates on national events.

The 19th ASIAD in Hangzhou Province will showcase a total of 40 sports and 481 events, providing a platform for athletes from across Asia to demonstrate their talents and compete at the highest level. Originally scheduled for September 10-25, 2022, the tournament had to be rescheduled due to the ongoing COVID-19 concerns in China. The new dates, from September 23 to October 8, 2023, were officially announced on July 19, 2022.

With the opening ceremony set for September 23, some sports, including football, will kick off their competitions on September 19. In preparation for the Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation will depart for China on September 19.

In the previous edition of ASIAD held in Indonesia, Vietnam showcased a strong team consisting of 532 members, including 352 athletes. Their efforts resulted in an impressive performance, securing five gold medals, along with 15 silver medals and 19 bronze medals.
