The menu for the Big BBQ was carefully designed by Taste of Australia Ambassador, esteemed Australian chef Luke Nguyen. Luke Nguyen kicked off the event at a dedicated BBQ station, where he showcased his talent by grilling renowned Australian lamb on a specially crafted carousel.

“This event is the grandest celebration of the year in commemoration of its 50th anniversary and one of Vietnam’s most significant food and drink festivals. It is an honor for me to be here, representing Australia’s finest produce and sharing my enthusiasm for this remarkable occasion,” stated Luke Nguyen.

Guests at the event were treated to a delectable array of dishes, featuring fire roasted lamb, Australian salmon cooked on a cedar plank, 6-hour cooked Australian beef ribs, and kangaroo “snags” (sausages). To complement these mouth-watering cuisines, an exquisite selection of Australian wine, spirits, and juices was also available for guests to enjoy.

During the event, a wide range of Australian packaged produce available in Vietnam was showcased. In addition, there was a dedicated stand promoting Australian education.

Guests were treated to an unforgettable evening highlighted by a captivating performance from Thelma Plum, an Indigenous Australian artist. Thelma Plum, known for promoting Australia’s vibrant culture, journeyed all the way to Hanoi to mesmerize the audience with her talent.

Senator the Hon Penny Wong, Australia’s Foreign Minister, was in Hanoi for an official working visit to Vietnam and also graced the event with her presence.

“Australians have a strong affinity for Vietnamese cuisine, and this event provided an excellent opportunity for our esteemed colleagues in Vietnam to experience the exceptional flavors of Australian food,” stated the diplomat.

The BBQ event also served as a significant occasion to commemorate the 50-year relationship between our nations. This enduring bond is strengthened by longstanding people-to-people connections, as well as our robust trade and economic partnerships, and our collaborative peacekeeping endeavors.

The event was additionally graced by the presence of Hoang Thanh Tung, the esteemed head of the Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, and also the head of the esteemed Vietnam-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The Taste of Australia is a yearly series of events that is meticulously organized by the Australian Government in Vietnam.
