The city’s tourism sector, in collaboration with Asia Destination Management JSC (Asia DMC) based in Hanoi, hosted a reception for the MICE tour group on the same day.

A group of MICE tourists participated in a conference held at a convention center in the city on Saturday evening.

During their stay in the city, the MICE group will have the opportunity to visit several popular tourist attractions. These include the War Remnants Museum, where they can learn about the city’s history, the Saigon Central Post Office, a beautiful colonial building that showcases the city’s architectural charm, the bustling Ben Thanh Market, where they can experience the vibrant local culture, and the historic Cu Chi Tunnels, a remarkable underground network used during the Vietnam War.

In addition to exploring these attractions, the group will also have the chance to savor the culinary delights of both Vietnamese and Indian cuisine. They will be able to indulge in delicious meals at selected restaurants, providing them with a taste of the local flavors and spices that Vietnam and India have to offer.

Suhash Chandar, the General Manager at Asia DMC, highlights Vietnam as a highly sought-after destination for Indian and Chinese tourists.

In order to attract more MICE tour groups, Vietnamese cities should focus on the development of additional shopping centers and facilities. It is evident that the number of shopping and entertainment services in Vietnam lags behind that of neighboring countries such as Thailand and Singapore.

According to statistics provided by the Department of Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, the number of international tourists visiting the city has shown significant growth. In the first seven months of this year, the city welcomed over 2.3 million international visitors, a remarkable increase of 208 percent compared to last year. This surge in tourist numbers also accounts for 47.2 percent of the city’s overall target for the year.

In the specified timeframe, the southern city welcomed more than 18.6 million domestic visitors, experiencing a significant annual growth of 40%. The tourism revenue generated during this period amounted to VND93.5 trillion (US$3.9 billion), marking a remarkable increase of 55% compared to the previous year and achieving 58.5% of the set target.

According to a tourism official from the city, MICE tourism has played a crucial role in the city’s post-pandemic tourism recovery and has made substantial contributions to its overall tourism growth.

According to Nguyen Cam Tu, director of the Tourism Promotion Center, the city has recognized MICE tourism as one of the key travel products that requires further enhancement in its tourism development strategies.

The tourism department of the city has also unveiled its MICE tourism policies, which provide a range of incentives aimed at attracting MICE tourists.
