Mongolia Hosts Historic Vietnam Painting Exhibition

The Embassy of Vietnam in Mongolia, Asia Art Link and the artists invite Mongolian friends to partake in a unique cultural experience – the scents of the lotus and the friendly nature of the Vietnamese people, steeped in longstanding traditions and committed to fostering global cooperation.

A painting exhibition was recently held at the Mongol Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Mongolia (1954-2024), as reported by VNA.


The exhibition showcased over 50 paintings and graphic works created by 16 Vietnamese artists from Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as two paintings by a Mongolian volunteer artist.

The exhibition, organized jointly by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia and Asia Art Link Vietnam, aimed to introduce Mongolian audiences to the contemporary Vietnamese art scene and provide them with a deeper understanding of the beautiful landscapes, culture, and friendly people of Vietnam, according to Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).


The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of Mongolian government agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Justice & Interior, as well as ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Mongolia. The event also saw the participation of the Mongolia-Vietnam Friendship Association, artists, and experts in the art world of Mongolia, along with the organizing committee comprised of the Vietnamese Artists Union, the Embassy of Vietnam in Mongolia, and some Mongolian artist volunteers who have graduated in painting and fine arts in Vietnam, representing the Vietnamese community in the host country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Doan Khanh Tam highlighted the significance of the exhibition as the first-ever showcase of Vietnamese art and culture in Ulaanbaatar. He expressed his belief that the event would further enhance artistic exchanges between the two countries in the near future.


The exhibition featured artworks in various styles including realism, expressionism, and abstraction. The themes ranged from natural landscapes to portraits and still lifes, created with materials such as oil painting, acrylic on canvas, pastels, watercolor, silk, and woodblock printing on paper.


The participating members of Asia Art Link Vietnam included artists who have participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, showcasing their unique styles and artistic imprints in the country and the region.


Alongside the artworks prepared by Vietnamese artists, the exhibition also presented artworks that conveyed the artists’ experiences and impressions of the beautiful country of Mongolia, titled “Beauty of Mongolia through the eyes of Vietnamese artists”.

Painter Trinh Tuan from Asia Art Link Vietnam emphasized the significance of the event in promoting the images, art, culture, and people of Vietnam to the global audience. He also mentioned that it contributes to fostering mutual understanding between the two peoples and strengthening bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia.


In addition to the art and painting works, the opening ceremony featured special musical performances by the artists, including a piano solo by young musician Trinh Nhat Anh and a rendition of the famous Mongolian song “Meeting mother in a dream – Алсад суугаа ээжий” by Ambassador Doan Khanh Tam.
