The French Embassy in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, recently held a formal ceremony to inaugurate the newly established audio exhibit spaces, referred to as ‘story cabins’. These innovative spaces have been officially handed over to two museums, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the cultural experience for visitors. The ceremony took place on Wednesday afternoon, showcasing the commitment of the organizations involved to enriching cultural exchange and promoting the exploration of history and art.
The idea of the story cabins originated from the Confluence Museum in Lyon, France. Vietnam is the first country where the French authorities have successfully implemented this model outside of France.

Our story cabins are state-of-the-art sound devices that are easily accessible to all of our visitors.
Inside each cabin, there is a control screen available to users. This screen enables users to select from a range of three-minute presentations pertaining to four remarkable artifacts. These artifacts are prominently exhibited at the renowned Museum of Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern Women’s Museum. Additionally, they can be found at the History Museum of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts.

Doan Thi Trang, the deputy director of the Museum of Ho Chi Minh City, stated that their museum has plans to enhance the displays in these cabins with additional artifacts in the near future. This initiative aims to appeal to a wider range of visitors.
The initiative is a component of the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects (FSPI), which is financially supported by the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Consulate General of France in Ho Chi Minh City.

“We are pleased to announce that the Confluence Museum’s director, Hélène Lafont-Couturier, has expressed her satisfaction with the positive impact that the story cabins have had in attracting more visitors to our museum. She also anticipates that the introduction of these new devices will provide an engaging and enriching experience for the Vietnamese community.”
Nguyen Thi Tham, the Director of the Southern Women’s Museum, has announced that the portable exhibits will be regularly relocated within the network of museums in Ho Chi Minh City in order to attract visitors to these establishments.
