The Mikazuki pedestrian bridge was opened to the public in Xuan Thieu Tourist Area in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward of the city’s Lien Chieu District following an inauguration ceremony jointly held on Saturday by the group and the local administration, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The Japanese-styled flyover is nearly 13 meters high and over 140 meters long, running from the Da Nang – Mikazuki Resort and Spa and spanning Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in the direction to the sea.
The bridge, with a floor area of approximately 655 square meters, will create conditions for people and visitors to cross the road in the most convenient and safest way, chairman of Mikazuki Hotel Group Odaka Yoshimune said.
This is also a place for visitors to contemplate Da Nang beaches as well as the beautiful scenery of the city, the chairman said.
The overpass, which costs VND42 billion (nearly US$1.8 million), was designed with modern Japanese architectural style, with its overall shape inspired by the waves of the sea, creating a sense of relaxation and a harmonious connection with the surrounding landscape.
The bridge has two watching towers each equipped with a steel spiral staircase along with an elevator intended for disabled people.
The facility serves as a utility work for the Da Nang – Mikazuki Resort and Spa, which welcomed more than 490,000 visitors after a year of operation and has become a favorite venue for both local and foreign travelers, said Yoshimune.
By putting the Mikazuki flyover into use, Mikazuki Hotel Group has created a unique tourism product for Da Nang, contributing to a series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
Currently, Japan is topping the list of foreign direct investors in Da Nang with 222 projects totaling more than US$1 billion.
The city’s administration has conducted diverse cultural exchanges with Japan through the organization of the annual events such as the Vietnam – Japan Cultural Exchange Festival, the Cherry Blossom Festival, and youth exchange activities.
