Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Tran Thanh Man, hosted a reception in Hanoi on May 17th for a visiting delegation from the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) of Cuba. The delegation was led by its National Coordinator, Gerardo Hernandez Nordelo. The Vietnam News Agency reported on the event.
Affirming his commitment to closely monitoring the situation in Cuba, Man expressed his sympathy for the difficulties and challenges that the fraternal Cuban people are facing. He expressed his solidarity with the Cuban people in their struggle to overcome these difficulties.
He was confident that, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), the fraternal Cuban people would soon overcome their difficulties, maintain political and social stability, and continue with their successful socio-economic model that had achieved such remarkable results in recent years.
He lauded the joint effective and practical activities between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Cuban Democratic Revolutionary Party (CDR), which have significantly contributed to strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba. This has been evident in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation for the 2012-2022 period, and the Cooperation Agreement for 2023-2028, signed on May 16th.
He urged the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the Central Committee for External Relations (CDR) to implement the signed agreements in an effective manner.
Nordelo, a member of the Cuban Council of State, declared that the positive and concrete results of his working visit will help to further strengthen the close and enduring friendship, brotherly solidarity, broad cooperation, and mutual trust between the two parties, states, and peoples of Cuba and Vietnam.
He proclaimed that the Cuban populace have immense respect for Vietnam’s accomplishments in the course of building and advancing their nation. Both countries can gain much from one another in a variety of areas.
The Cuban official was confident that the agreements that had been signed between the VFF and the CDR would be implemented effectively.

The same day, Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Truong Thi Mai held a reception for the Cuban high-ranking delegation.
During the reception, Mai expressed her appreciation for the traditional friendship between the Vietnamese Fatherland Front (VFF) and the Cuban Democratic Republic (CDR). She suggested that the two sides should work together to effectively implement their cooperation agreement for the period of 2023-2028, which would help to strengthen and deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two organizations, as well as the special friendship between Cuba and Vietnam as a whole.

Do Van Chien, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Central Committee, recently welcomed Nordelo in Hanoi.
Nordelo affirmed that the CDR will continue to collaborate with the VFF Central Committee in upcoming cooperative endeavours, with the aim of helping to create progressive, developed, and prosperous societies in their respective countries, he added.
At the gathering, both parties expressed their admiration for the outcomes of their coordination, as well as the successful execution of the bilateral agreement of cooperation for 2012 – 2022.
They unanimously agreed on a collaborative plan for the period of 2023 – 2028, which was based on their respective roles, responsibilities, and authority, in accordance with the relevant domestic laws of both countries and the international treaties to which they are signatories.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the Cuban Democratic Republic (CDR) have agreed to increase communication and cooperation between their respective countries over the next eight years. The two sides will focus on strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive collaboration between the people of Vietnam and Cuba, with a particular focus on the younger generations.
In addition, there will be an increase in information exchange, coordination, and mutual support in order to maintain peace, stability, and social order and safety in each country. Both sides will also support the interests of each other in accordance with international law and the stances and viewpoints of both countries.
