Vietnam Triumphs Over China in 2023 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship Semifinals

Sport Center I, fielding all Vietnamese national team players in their final preparation for next week’s 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia, remained strong offensively with the likes of powerful hitter Tran Thi Thanh Thuy. The team has been practicing rigorously, honing their skills and developing strategies to take on their opponents in the upcoming tournament. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy has been a standout performer for the team, consistently delivering powerful hits that have been instrumental in Sport Center I’s success. With the team’s final preparations complete, all eyes will be on Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and her teammates as they strive to bring glory to Vietnam in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.

However, the first set was dominated by Liaoning Donghua, who took an early lead with a four-point advantage at 12-8. Cheng Wen and Sun Xizoxuan effectively blocked Thanh Thuy several times, resulting in Donghua maintaining their initial lead.

The Chinese outfit capitalized on the Vietnamese team’s unforced attacking and blocking errors, displaying consistency to win the first set 25-17.

Liaoning Donghua maintained their dominance in the second set, silencing the cheering home fans at the packed 3,000-seater Vinh Phuc Indoor Stadium with their spectacular attacks and splendid combinations. Despite the home team’s efforts to catch up, the Chinese side still managed to gain the upper hand, leading 12-6. However, the host team gradually pulled the game together and the match was eventually tied at 22-22.

Sport Center I allowed the powerful visitors only one more point from Sun Xizoxuan’s aggressive attack on the back court, as Thanh Thuy scored three points consecutively to secure a hard-fought 25-23 victory for the team.

With the crowd cheering them on, they kept their momentum going and won the set.

Sport Center I’s confidence was sky-high after claiming the second set, and they returned to the court with remarkable vigor in the third set. With the audience cheering them on, they maintained their momentum and emerged victorious in the set.

They caught the Chinese side at 12-12, took control, and broke away to lead by a wide margin of 23-17.

Vi Thi Nhu Quynh delivered a set point for the home team at 24-17, but Wang Lujia attacked effectively to score one point for the Chinese team before a serve from Lin Xinyu went into the net, allowing Sport Center I to grab the third set 25-18.

Cheered on noisily by their home fans, the Sport Center put on an amazing and gutsy display of excellent teamwork.

Thanh Thuy, the renowned Vietnamese leader, spearheaded the attacks and delivered an outstanding performance that left her fans in awe. Her exemplary form and courage proved that she was more than capable of leading her troops to victory.

Her powerful mid-court attacks and well-established combinations, consisting of Nhu Quynh’s thundering spikes and Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh’s solid blocks, propelled the home team ahead 13-8.

After that, the Vietnamese entertained home fans with their exceptional tactics, including powerful attacks from Thanh Thuy and Nhu Quynh, as well as effective blocks that extended their lead to 22-14.

I never looked back, going on to capture the set 25-16 and secure a finals berth, much to the delight of the home fans. My hard work and dedication had paid off, and I was ecstatic with the victory.

The terrific comeback 3-1 win not only earned Sport Center I their unprecedented spot in the highly-anticipated final showdown against Diamond Food Fine Chef team from Thailand on Tuesday, but also made history for Vietnam as it became the first time ever that a Vietnamese team made the podium in this continent’s top flight club championship.

It will be held in Vietnam from May 8–21, 2023.

The 2023 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship is the 23rd edition of the annual international women’s club volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam (VFV). This prestigious event will be held in Vietnam from May 8th to 21st, 2023. It is a great opportunity for the best clubs from all over the Asian continent to showcase their talent and demonstrate their strength in the world of volleyball.

Participation in the tournament is open to clubs from the AVC member nations. The participating teams will compete in a double round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals will then face off in the grand finale, with the champions being crowned the best club team in Asia.

The nine participating teams – Vietnam, Iran, Japan, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, China, Mongolia, and Hong Kong – will compete in two groups in a round-robin format in Vinh Phuc Province from April 25th to May 2nd.

The winner of the tournament will qualify for the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, which is scheduled for December 11 to 17 in China.
