The event saw the attendance of Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Sebastian Andujar, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Uruguay, and other Uruguayan legislators, officials, and friends.
In her remarks, Uruguayan Acting Minister of Education and Culture Anna Ribeiro stated that since the two countries established their bilateral diplomatic relations in 1993, Uruguay has gained valuable knowledge from Vietnam. Moreover, she expressed her admiration for the Southeast Asian nation’s unwavering determination and strength during their past struggle for national liberation and reunification.
The host official noted with pleasure Vietnam’s establishment of diplomatic relations with 33 Latin American countries and the signing of the minutes of the third meeting of the Vietnam- Uruguay Joint Committee for Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation on the occasion of NA Chairman Hue’s ongoing visit.
She emphasized that, in addition to economic and trade cooperation, people-to-people exchanges have contributed to the strengthening of ties between the two countries.
Nguyen Van Hung, Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, highlighted the importance of the art programme, saying that it is intended to showcase the country’s diverse culture and warm hospitality to Uruguayans and other international friends. He expressed his hope that they will gain a better understanding of Vietnam through it.
