President Arrives in London for King Charles III’s Coronation Ceremony

During his stay, the Vietnamese President is scheduled to meet King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the esteemed leaders of the British government, parliament, and several Cabinet ministers. This meeting is expected to further tighten the bonds between Vietnam and the UK Government and monarchy, while also contributing to the enhancement of political trust and relations between the two countries. According to VietnamPlus, this is a crucial step on the path to a stronger relationship between the two nations.

The Vietnamese State leader is set to meet with representatives of leading economic corporations, educational institutions, and friendship organizations that have made tremendous contributions to the strengthening of bilateral relations. Moreover, they will discuss ways to further enhance the collaborative efforts between the two countries.

After his arrival, Thuong had a meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese community in the United Kingdom, VOV said.

The President expressed his delight at the strong growth of the Vietnamese community and their associations in the host nation. He highlighted how their operations have been instrumental in strengthening the role and position of Vietnamese people in the UK, as well as making significant contributions to the development of Vietnam and fostering the friendship between the two countries.

He also praised the overseas Vietnamese for their remarkable contributions in the UK, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, and for their generous charity programmes.

The Vietnamese Party and State consider the Vietnamese expatriate community an indispensable part of society, the leader said, expressing his earnest hope that they will integrate into the host nation, overcome any obstacles they may encounter, and achieve even greater successes.

On May 5th, the President paid a visit to the renowned British Museum, a place of inspiration for Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, V.I. Lenin, and countless other great minds.

Thuong had a comprehensive look at publications associated with Karl Marx during the time he lived, worked, and conducted research on scientific communism in the United Kingdom. By examining these sources, Thuong was able to gain a greater understanding of the philosophical, social, and economic theories that Marx developed in this period of his life.

The museum, one of the largest in the world, houses an impressive collection of over 8 million artifacts from various dynasties and countries spanning the globe.

The President’s presence at the coronation ceremony highlights the significance that Vietnam places on the Royal Family and the Vietnam-UK strategic partnership.

The UK is the third largest trade partner of Vietnam in Europe. The two sides officially signed a Free Trade Agreement in December 2020 on the principle of inheriting the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) with necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with the framework of bilateral trade between Vietnam and the UK.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the United Kingdom made significant contributions to the COVAX Facility with the vaccine developed jointly by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford. The UK donated millions of doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Vietnam through both bilateral channels and the COVAX Facility./.
