Excitement is building for the upcoming Hue International Balloon Festival, giving balloonists, sky lovers, and adventure seekers a unique opportunity to take hot-air balloon rides and marvel at the stunning panoramic views of the Hue Imperial Citadel City in Thua Thien-Hue Province, central Vietnam.
The annual Hue balloon fest themed ‘The Beauty of Hue Citadel’, which takes place at Ham Nghi Yard inside the Hue Citadel from April 13 to 20, is part of the Hue Festival 2023.
Twelve large hot-air balloons will soar into the sky above the city during this year’s festival.
Domestic and international tourists alike can experience the beauty of Hue City through either tethered hot air balloon rides or free-floating ones. With either option, they can admire the stunning skyline and other majestic views from high up in the sky.
A free-floating balloon ride is priced at VND4 million (US$171) for a duration of 40-60 minutes. Enjoy the majestic views of the sky as you float through the air for an unforgettable experience.
Notably, the rides start at 6:00 am every day, with up to three passengers and a pilot on board a balloon, allowing visitors to admire the stunning scenery of the city at the break of dawn.
A tethered balloon ride costs VND200,000 ($8.5) per passenger for five minutes. Enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience as you ascend into the sky, taking in the stunning views of the landscape below.
The activity, in which balloons will soar to an altitude of 20-30 meters, is available from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm every day.
The festival will also feature an electronic dance music show, with the participation of multiple famous rappers and artists.

Statistics from the Thua Thien-Hue Department of Tourism have revealed that the province welcomed an impressive 2.05 million travelers in 2022, representing an incredible 296 percent increase compared to the previous year. Local media have reported on the impressive figures, showcasing the province’s potential as a popular tourism destination.
Of the total, 263,000 international visitors traveled to the province last year.
The province aims to welcome 3-3.5 million tourists arrivals in 2023.
To meet this goal, the province will launch a variety of tourism programs and services, as well as create new tourism products to attract tourists. This will help to boost the local economy and encourage people to explore the area. Additionally, the province will work to ensure that these programs and services are accessible and safe for all visitors.
