The government has issued a new rule on land ownership to stimulate the condotel and officetel market. This regulation will provide more clarity to those interested in investing in these types of properties. It will also help to create an attractive and sustainable environment for both buyers and developers. The rule will give more protection to buyers and provide a better understanding of the ownership structure of condotels and officetels. Additionally, it will help to ensure that all participants in the market have a clear understanding of the regulations and the rights and obligations associated with owning such properties. This new rule is expected to benefit both buyers and developers alike, as it will provide a more secure and reliable investment environment.
A new decree allowing buyers and investors of condotels, officetels, resorts, and similar products to obtain their land use certificates has been signed and released by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha. Decree 10/2023/ND-CP provides amendments to Decree 43, issued in 2014, to direct the implementation of the Land Law and will take effect on May 20. As a result, investors and homebuyers must submit the necessary documents to the authorities to obtain certificates for their land use rights, as required by the Land Law. The new decree is expected to remove the bottleneck for the growth of the officetel and condotel markets, which have remained sluggish since the robust period of 2016-2018 due to the inability of buyers and investors to legalize their land ownership.

Vietnamese authorities are set to inspect the popular social media app, TikTok, for the presence of falsified information on its platform. The move is part of the country’s efforts to ensure that users are not subject to false or misleading information.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications has ordered the inspection in response to concerns from the public over the spread of false information on the app. The Ministry has also asked the app’s operators to ensure that any false information is immediately removed from the platform.
The Vietnamese government is also taking steps to educate its citizens about the risks of false information, as well as the need to verify sources before accepting information as true.
The inspection of TikTok comes at a time when social media platforms are increasingly being used to spread false information and rumors. Thus, this move by the Vietnamese government is seen as a step towards ensuring that users are not misled by false information on the app.
It remains to be seen how effective this inspection will be in curbing the spread of falsified information on TikTok, but it serves as a reminder of the need for social media platforms to take proactive steps to prevent the spread of false information.
In May 2023, the Vietnamese government will inspect Chinese-owned video platform TikTok for spreading fake news. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Information and Communication, noted that the inspection will focus on content direction, taxation, e-commerce, and advertising. Despite warnings from the authorities, TikTok has done little to improve its content management, allowing fake news to spread. In Q4 2002, the platform deleted thousands of videos created by Vietnamese users, most of them voluntarily. The app is also currently banned in the US, Canada, Belgium, the UK, and the EU.
