Many TikTok users, especially youngsters, have been attracted by a series of videos on Vietnam’s folk songs and proverbs performed by artist Vu Nhu Nguyet.
As a musician, Nguyet, who now lives in Ho Chi Minh City, has a deep passion for traditional folk songs and dances as well as proverbs.
Her TikTok channel, Vunhunguyetsinger, has attracted 250,000 followers in the month since its launch.
Each video lasts just 15-30 seconds, but Nguyet and her crew prepare everything well, from script ideas, costumes, and shooting to music and post-production. The crew also creates an appropriate set depending on the meaning of the selected proverb.
In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such creativity is essential to attract young people’s attention to traditional culture. Platforms like TikTok are proving to be an effective tool in bringing culture closer to the younger generation./.
