The Hanoi Times — A vibrant tourism program was launched on the evening of March 4, coinciding with the Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival and the celebration of the recognition of the Hai Ba Trung Temple, Pagoda, and Communal House Complex in Hanoi’s Hai Ba Trung District as a National Intangible Heritage site.

Dang Huong Giang, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Tourism, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, outlining the city’s tourism vision for 2025. She emphasized Hanoi’s plans to develop its tourism sector by celebrating its rich cultural heritage and historical significance.

According to Giang, “In 2025, Hanoi will continue to evolve into a city that seamlessly merges its cultural heritage with modernity, embodying the values of ‘Cultured – Civilized – Modern.’ It will proudly showcase the titles bestowed by UNESCO, including ‘City of Peace’ and ‘Creative City.'”

The “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025 – Get on Hanoi 2025” program aims to establish Hanoi as a “Safe – Friendly – High-Quality & Inviting” destination. The city opens its doors to both domestic and international tourists, inviting them to discover its unparalleled allure.

Hanoi boasts an extraordinary wealth of cultural heritage, with 5,922 officially recognized relics. Among these are the iconic Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, 21 special national relic clusters, and over 1,700 intangible cultural heritage items that are meticulously preserved. This rich tapestry of history forms the basis for a captivating range of tourism experiences, sure to enchant travelers from across the globe.

As part of the “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025” initiative, the city has scheduled over 60 events, festivals, and promotional activities throughout the year. Notable highlights include the recognition of Kim Lan Pottery Craft as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the inauguration of the Kim Lan Tourist Destination in the rural district of Gia Lam, the Thay Pagoda Festival, and the “Culture, Tourism, and Trade Promotion Week” in Quoc Oai District.

Additionally, the Dong Anh Carnival Festival in Dong Anh District, the Hanoi Tourism Festival 2025, the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival, the Hanoi Autumn Festival, the Food and Craft Village Tourism Festival, and the Hanoi Ao Dai Festival 2025 in the city center will also take place.

These vibrant cultural festivals and events not only showcase Hanoi’s proud heritage but also its modern and creative spirit.

For 2025, Hanoi sets its sights on welcoming over 30 million visitors, an 11% increase from the previous year. This includes more than seven million international visitors, with an expected five million staying overnight. The city also projects tourism revenue to surpass VND130 trillion (US$5.4 billion), marking a 17.5% rise.

The sector’s primary focus for 2025 is not just attracting a large number of visitors but also targeting high-quality tourists who spend significantly and stay longer. Hanoi’s tourism development plans are carefully aligned with the city’s general planning for 2021-2030, with a vision for 2050.
