Jamie Vardy, the veteran Leicester striker, rolled back the years with a superb performance against Tottenham, earning his side a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium, as reported by Irish Independent.

In the closing stages of the match, with 11 minutes remaining, Vardy was substituted and received jeers from the traveling Tottenham fans. In response, the forward pointed to the Premier League badge on his sleeve and held up one finger, a clear reference to Leicester’s remarkable title win in 2016, according to ESPN.

The Leicester star then directed a cheeky zero sign at the Spurs fans, highlighting their lack of Premier League trophies, before walking off the pitch. Vardy, a key member of Leicester’s 2016 title-winning team, returned to the top flight last season after the club’s promotion from the Championship.

Arsenal fans, as reported by The Sun, have even called for a statue to be erected in Vardy’s honor following his provocative gesture.

In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Vardy stated that he simply gave back what he received from the Tottenham fans during the game, as quoted by GiveMeSport. When prompted by Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, Vardy explained, “You take a bit of stick during the game, that is part of football. So as long as they can take it when I am giving it back, then that is all that matters.”
