Tran Thi Chi’s graduation project was one of the top 100 International Graduation Project Award 2023 representatives from Vietnam before winning the first prize. Supervised by Vietnamese Architect Do Quoc Hiep, the project titled “Culture of the Sea Museum” emphasizes the application of traditional boat frame construction techniques. Its goal is to preserve and disseminate the tangible and intangible culture of coastal regions.

The jury recognized Chi’s project as an inspiring one that greatly impacts the local community. It successfully integrates with the simplicity of coastal residents’ lives while preserving the beauty of the landscape.

The project is situated in Phan Thiet City, Vietnam, and is deeply rooted in the local community’s attachment to the sea. By utilizing the form and space of a museum, Tran Thi Chi’s project stands against urbanization, which often erodes the “sense of place,” cultural identity, and heritage in the area.

Nguyen Thanh Luan, another student from Course 24 majoring in Architecture at Van Lang University, also made it to the top 100 of the International Graduation Project Award 2023 with their project titled “Folk Belief Cultural Museum of Vietnam”.

The International Graduation Project Award 2023 is one of the eight competitions within the Tamayouz Excellence Award framework. It is open to students majoring in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architectural Technology, and Landscape Design from around the world.

The award aims to recognize and promote excellence in architectural design and education globally. In 2023, the competition received 422 graduation projects from students representing 141 universities across 36 countries.
