THE HANOI TIMES — On November 9, construction commenced on 72 inter-level boarding schools across 17 provinces and cities in Vietnam, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s educational development. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his deputies participated in ceremonies held simultaneously in various locations, underscoring the government’s commitment to this initiative.

This nationwide groundbreaking is a pivotal step in the Politburo’s ambitious program to establish 100 inter-level boarding schools in border communes. With a total investment of nearly VND20 trillion (US$760 million), the project is slated for completion by August 30, 2026, ensuring readiness for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The initiative is part of a broader national plan to construct 248 boarding schools in border communes across all 22 cities and provinces in Vietnam. Following the completion of the initial 100 schools, an additional 148 are expected to be built within the next 2 to 3 years, further solidifying the government’s dedication to enhancing education in these critical areas.

The new boarding school system is anticipated to revolutionize education quality in border regions, providing students with modern, fully equipped facilities that include learning, accommodation, and living spaces, as well as housing for teachers. This holistic approach is designed to foster an environment based on the “Virtue – Wisdom – Physical – Aesthetic” model.

The simultaneous ceremonies across provinces reflect the government’s unwavering determination and coordinated efforts to support students in border areas, with education and training remaining a top national priority.

He urged leaders from the Ministry of Education and Training, other ministries, and local authorities to address challenges and create optimal conditions for the schools’ construction.

Prime Minister Chinh also encouraged students nationwide to pursue their dreams and aspirations, striving to become valuable contributors to their communities, hometowns, and the country.
