The National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam and the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina are set to sign a cooperation agreement during NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visit to the Latin American nation, with the aim of enhancing parliamentary relations and bolstering the countries’ comprehensive partnership. This was announced by the head of the NA’s Committee for External Relations, Vu Hai Ha.

Chairman Hue and a high-ranking delegation from the National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam arrived at Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Buenos Aires on the afternoon of April 23rd (local time), beginning an official visit to Argentina at the invitation of President of the Chamber of Deputies Cecilia Moreau, according to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

The journey, held during the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the countries (October 25, 1973 – 2023), seeks to strengthen the traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Argentina, as well as other Latin American countries.

It appears that Argentina is one of the primary collaborators of Vietnam in Latin America and is exploring the potential of initiating discussions for a Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR).

During previous discussions and meetings, the leaders of both nations voiced their desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The Vietnamese side expressed their commitment to the long-standing friendship and comprehensive partnership with Argentina, emphasizing the importance of developing the relationship for the benefit of both nations and for peace, stability, and global progress. They are hopeful that this partnership can lead to a better future for all.

Meanwhile, Argentina highly valued Vietnam’s increasing importance and significance in both regional and international affairs, expressing its commitment to take the comprehensive partnership to a higher level.

Over the last few years, the relationship between the two legislative bodies has been growing steadily, manifesting in the form of reciprocal visits and engagements at various international parliamentary forums.

On the basis of the long-standing friendship, Chairman Hue’s visit is anticipated to elevate and strengthen parliamentary cooperation even further.

Prior to their visit, the head of the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations, Vu Hai Ha, spoke to the press about the upcoming discussions they would have about measures to strengthen the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, particularly in areas in which Argentina excels such as agriculture, the industry related to agricultural production, renewable energy, and the manufacturing industry.

The two parliaments will sign a cooperation agreement to fortify their relationship and bolster the comprehensive partnership, he said.

Ha announced that the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam would also present a policy address at the Foreign Ministry of Argentina. This speech will provide knowledge about Vietnam’s foreign policies, and its policies towards Latin America in general and Argentina in particular.

The Argentinian Ambassador to Vietnam, Luis Pablo Maria Beltramino, recently shared with the press that his nation has high hopes for the upcoming visit, which they consider to be a key moment in the strengthening of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue had the pleasure of meeting with Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, President of the Honourable Senate of the Argentine Nation and Vice President of the country, in Buenos Aires on the afternoon of April 24.

The two sides agreed to maintain close and ongoing cooperation and coordination, as well as to share their experiences in legislative work pertaining to matters such as helping the impoverished, social welfare, and national progress, thereby supporting each other in overcoming the current global difficulties and challenges.

They declared that, thanks to the strong political ties, the relationship between the two legislatures has also advanced significantly and made a substantial contribution to the enhancement of the bilateral Comprehensive Partnership.
