UAE Wishes to Increase Collaboration with Vietnam in All Areas

Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized Vietnam’s dedication to its relationship with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during a meeting with President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the morning of May 3, according to a report from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on Thursday. Xuan highlighted the importance that Vietnam places on the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

The Vice President of Vietnam was warmly welcomed to the meeting, which was also attended by the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed.

The UAE President lauded the recent working visit of Vice President Xuan, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (August 1, 1993 to 2023). He highlighted that the UAE considers Vietnam an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region, and expressed a desire to strengthen their multifaceted cooperation.

Vice President Xuan has expressed Vietnam’s appreciation for the UAE’s strong support in various fields, emphasizing the desire to further strengthen the friendly and multifaceted ties between the two countries. He highlighted the UAE’s importance as a major economic, trade, and investment partner in the Middle East.

The two parties engaged in a dialogue on the ways to advance collaboration in various sectors and bring it to a higher level. They discussed approaches and measures that could be taken to foster successful partnerships.

They emphasized the necessity of intensifying mutual visits on all levels, particularly at the highest ones, to coordinate with each other closely and provide assistance to each other through international and regional forums and organizations, and to promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, especially to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship, in order to strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations.

Both host and guest expressed their satisfaction at the strides in bilateral economic connections, including bilateral trade topping USD 5 billion annually.

To reach the ambitious goal of raising the trade revenue to USD 10 billion and higher, Xuan proposed that both sides should take measures to promote investment and trade, create favorable conditions for each other’s strong exports, and refine the legal framework to facilitate economic ties. Furthermore, they should start negotiations on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) as soon as possible.

Based on the two countries’ strengths and demand, the Vietnamese and UAE leaders agreed to boost cooperation in other potential fields, such as investment, oil and gas, renewable energy, logistics, agriculture, and Halal product manufacturing. Furthermore, they agreed to hold a meeting of the Vietnam – UAE Inter-governmental Committee this year to review existing measures and create new ones to increase cooperation.

At the meeting, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) expressed his gratitude for the contributions of the Vietnamese people to his country. He also emphasized that the UAE government will continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to grow and contribute to the strengthening of the friendship between the two countries.

On this special occasion, Vice President Xuan conveyed a warm invitation from Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong to the UAE President to visit Vietnam in the near future.

She extended an invitation to the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to visit a Southeast Asian country at an opportune time. The UAE’s leaders graciously thanked her and accepted her invitation with pleasure.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan will be attending the 2023 Global Summit of Women and engaging in various bilateral activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from May 3-8, 2021. Furthermore, she will also be paying an official visit to Qatar in the same duration.
