According to the National Statistics Office, Vietnam recorded a remarkable surge in international tourism, welcoming nearly 11 million visitors during the reviewed period—a 21% year-on-year increase. China and South Korea emerged as the leading source markets, collectively contributing to 46% of total arrivals.
Agoda’s travel insights reveal China’s strong comeback, rising from fourth place in 2024 to second this year. This underscores the robust recovery of Chinese outbound tourism, with Vietnam solidifying its position as a premier destination for both business and leisure travelers.
Thailand also made its debut in the top five source markets, reflecting strengthened tourism ties between the two neighboring nations, as highlighted by Agoda.
Among the most sought-after destinations in 2025 are Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Hanoi, and Phu Quoc, according to Agoda’s rankings.
Korean travelers demonstrated a clear preference for coastal and island destinations, particularly Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc. These locations captivate visitors with their pristine beaches, vibrant cultural scenes, and exciting water activities like snorkeling and island-hopping. Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City also ranked highly, offering a blend of traditional allure and contemporary experiences.
Chinese tourists, on the other hand, favored tropical island resorts and major urban hubs. Ho Chi Minh City led their preferences, followed by Hanoi, renowned for its historical richness and cultural landmarks. Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Da Nang were equally popular, providing a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure, as noted by Agoda.
