On the afternoon of July 19, 2024, the beloved leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Nguyen Phu Trong, left this world at the age of 80, as confirmed by the board of health protection and care for central officials.
Despite the dedicated efforts of the Party, State, leading medical experts, and his loving family, the respected statesman succumbed to his illness due to old age and severe health conditions. He took his last breath at 1:38 PM on July 19, 2024, at the Central Military Hospital 108.
The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee will release a special communiqué regarding the arrangements for a state funeral to honor the life and legacy of Nguyen Phu Trong.
