Tsvetov, a former correspondent for Pravda, Russia’s prominent newspaper, highlights the contributions of Vietnam’s Communist Party leaders, particularly the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He underscores the impact of the Doi Moi (renewal) process initiated by the Communist Party of Vietnam in 1986, which has shaped the country’s trajectory.

In his interview, Tsvetov discusses his latest article in Pravda, titled “Hanoi’s Bamboo Diplomacy Policy.” He elaborates on how this unique approach has enabled Vietnam to foster extensive and reputable international relations, enhancing its prestige and trust on the global stage.

In addition to his academic role at the Diplomatic Academy under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tsvetov remains an active contributor to Pravda, sharing his expertise and insights.

Vietnamese journalists have long regarded Tsvetov as an “expert for generations.” In a recent interview at his home, he offered sharp insights into the life and legacy of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. This interview, conducted by Vietnam’s leading media outlets, including Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Television (VTV), and Nhan Dan newspaper, showcased Tsvetov’s deep understanding of Vietnamese politics and his respect for the country’s leaders.

Tsvetov emphasizes the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s prestige and theoretical prowess, acknowledging his significant contributions to the theory of building socialism in Vietnam. As the First Deputy Chairman of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, Tsvetov has been a witness to history, attending diplomatic events involving high-ranking Vietnamese leaders during their visits to the Russian Federation.

As a lecturer in the Department of International Relations, Tsvetov’s suburban home houses a fascinating collection of books, including works by veteran Vietnamese revolutionary figures. He recounts his encounters with esteemed Vietnamese intellectuals, such as Professor Tran Van Giau and Academician Nguyen Khanh Toan, sharing stories of their interactions. Tsvetov has also preserved a collection of writings and speeches by the late Party General Secretary Le Duan, showcasing his respect for Vietnam’s historical figures.

His collection of books on Vietnam is impressive, including volumes of speeches and documents from the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th National Congresses of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Tsvetov’s time as a Pravda correspondent in Hanoi during challenging times, especially after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, left him with fond memories of the support he received from Nhan Dan newspaper and his Vietnamese colleagues. He expresses gratitude for their hospitality and the insights they provided into Vietnam’s development.
