This year, the Michelin Guide unveiled an impressive lineup of 181 distinguished establishments across Vietnam. Among these, 9 restaurants earned the coveted one Michelin Star, 63 were awarded the Bib Gourmand for exceptional value, and 109 were recognized as Michelin Selected for their outstanding culinary quality.
Of the newly acclaimed venues, 10 hail from Hanoi, 7 from Ho Chi Minh City, and 7 from Da Nang. Notably, a Hanoi restaurant was bestowed with the Michelin Green Star, celebrating its exemplary dedication to sustainability and eco-conscious practices.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides, expressed immense pride in the growing number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Vietnam this year. He attributed this success to the rise of a new generation of talented young chefs, many of whom are reconnecting with their culinary roots. These chefs are masterfully blending modern techniques with traditional flavors to craft dishes that tell stories of their heritage and evoke nostalgic childhood memories.
Poullennec also underscored the vital role of street food vendors, family-run eateries, and time-honored dining establishments in preserving Vietnam’s rich culinary legacy. He emphasized that Michelin inspectors remain as enthralled and inspired by the discovery process in Vietnam as they were when they first began. The unwavering dedication, boundless creativity, and relentless pursuit of excellence demonstrated by chefs nationwide continue to captivate the Michelin team, who eagerly anticipate uncovering more hidden gems in the years to come.
The Michelin Guide Vietnam also honored outstanding individuals in the culinary scene. Le Viet Hong from CieL, a newly minted one-star Michelin restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, received the Young Chef Award. Paul Vo from Nephele, a first-time Michelin Selected restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, was awarded the Sommelier Award. Nha Huynh from Mặn Mòi, a Bib Gourmand winner in Thu Duc City, was recognized with the Service Award.
