As part of the activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Perth, in collaboration with VTV3-Vietnam Television and Eleven S, organized the “Lotus Light” event on December 3 at Winthrop Hall, University of Western Australia. The event aimed to promote Vietnamese culture and strengthen ties between Vietnam and the people of Western Australia.
The event received support from the University of Western Australia, Tourism Western Australia, and the WA Investment and Trade.

The “Lotus Light” event attracted nearly 400 guests, including the Mayor of Cockburn City, Deputy Director General of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation of Western Australia, representatives from Western Australian Tourism, Investment and Trade, and Consular Delegation in Western Australia.
The event also welcomed members of the business community involved in tourism and fashion, professors from universities, and the Vietnamese community residing in Western Australia.
Guests had the opportunity to explore booths showcasing Vietnamese tourism and cuisine. They learned about popular tourist destinations in Vietnam and received information about the upcoming direct flight between Perth and Ho Chi Minh City by Vietjet and Vietnam Airlines. Additionally, they sampled Vietnamese coffee and experienced the unique tea culture, guided by tea master Ngo Thi Thanh Tam.

Professor Jennifer Howell, Vice Rector in charge of international cooperation at the University of Western Australia, praised the significance of the program. She believed that it provided a valuable opportunity for cultural exchange and expressed the University’s commitment to fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.

The “Lotus Light” event aims to introduce and promote Vietnamese culture within the Western Australian community, fostering opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people connections.
