At the meeting on June 7, Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, declared that the relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea had reached a new peak, and that in 2022, the two countries would be upgrading their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Hoan expressed his conviction that this new partnership would enable a number of collaborations between Ho Chi Minh City and South Korean localities to be brought to fruition.

On the basis of the existing close relationship that Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) has with Korean localities, HCMC is ready to strengthen and further promote the cooperation relationship with Chungcheongbuk province in various areas of cooperation.
Hoan asserted that there are both mutual interests and potential for collaboration between the two sides, such as in high technology, semiconductor manufacturing, and green agriculture. Chungcheongbuk Province is situated in the center of Korea and has a number of advantages for developing tourism, agriculture, and semiconductor production. It is also renowned for its solar cells and biochemical research. On the other hand, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is one of the largest, most energetic, and fastest-growing cities in Vietnam.
In response, Deputy Governor Kim Myung Kyoo wishes to further bolster the HCMC-Chungcheongbuk relationship through initial cooperation that will pave the way for strong collaboration in various areas in the future.

The guest emphasized that enterprises in Chungcheongbuk Province are eager to have specific collaborations and contribute to the overall growth of Ho Chi Minh City. Moreover, Chungcheongbuk Province is ready to cooperate with HCMC to investigate and carry out collaboration projects in fields of common interest.
The two sides discussed signing a Friendship and Cooperation Agreement in order to promote exchanges, establish coordination mechanisms, and foster closer ties between the people of Ho Chi Minh City and Chungcheongbuk Province.
