Highlighting the Journey of Goodwill: Second Vietnam-Thailand People’s Friendship Festival

Celebrations of the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand gathered in Da Nang for the Second Vietnam People's Friendship Festival and the 12th Conference of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association and the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association from Sep 10-12.

The delegation of the Vietnam – Vietnam Friendship Association was led by Nguyen Van Thanh, former Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, and President of the Association. The delegation of the Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association was led by Sanan Angubolkul, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Association.

On the afternoon of the same day, the two Associations held a meeting with businesses from the two countries with the topic “Prospects for investment cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.”

At the meeting, business representatives shared, exchanged, and discussed each other’s needs, opportunities, directions, and solutions to promote investment cooperation. Appreciating the connecting role of the two countries’ Friendship Associations, businesses proposed that the two Associations increase information support so that businesses of the two countries can promptly grasp the economic and trade regulations and policies of each other, thereby having appropriate investment and business strategies.

On the evening of September 10, the People’s Committee of Da Nang City held a gala to welcome the second Vietnam – Thailand People’s Friendship Festival. The delegates enjoyed cultural performances of Vietnam – Thailand friendship exchange, and typical dishes of the coastal city of Da Nang, thereby immersing themselves in the hospitality and sincerity of the city.

On September 11, the 12th Conference between the Executive Committee of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association and the Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association was held.

According to the Chairman of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association Nguyen Van Thanh, the Conference is an opportunity for the two Associations to evaluate the achieved results, draw lessons from experience, and exchange and agree on implementation tasks in the remaining months of 2023 and 2024.

Chairman of the Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association Sanan Angubolkul said: The long-standing tradition of cooperation is the foundation for the two Associations to continue to develop sustainable relations, promoting practical cooperation topics that bring efficiency to the community and the country such as people-to-people exchange, education, social issues, notably support for start-up projects. He hopes the two Associations will discuss and draw up specific plans for cooperation in the near future.

At the Conference, many proposals were made to promote cultural, educational, and local cooperation between the two countries. Nguyen Van Thanh stated clearly that the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association is ready to coordinate with the Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association to implement diverse activities. With the function and mission of being a bridge, the Associations will work harder to contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two countries and pay more attention to cooperation between potential businesses of the two countries, especially young businesses, and startups.

The 2nd Vietnam – Thailand People’s Friendship Festival includes diverse activities, from visiting and working at the University of Foreign Languages – University of Danang, sports exchange, visiting Hoi An ancient town, Da Nang high-tech park, and Han market.

On the afternoon of September 12, leaders of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association see off the delegation of the Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association who concluded their successful visit to Vietnam.

According to Nguyen Viet Loan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association, the 2nd Vietnam People’s Friendship Festival and the 12th Conference of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Friendship Association – Thailand and the Thailand – Vietnam Friendship Association were thoughtfully held. Regarding content, the two sides consented to the recent activities of the two Associations and the expected activities in the coming time. At this meeting, the two sides mentioned specific and practical activities that are highly feasible. For the first time, the two Associations organized an activity on the sidelines of the conference, a meeting with businessmen of the two countries to introduce cooperation potential and experience to attract investment. He hopes this form of activity will be maintained and developed in the coming meetings.

“The success of the Festival helps the two Associations become more connected and understand each other better, thereby coordinating and supporting each other better. The program also demonstrates our dedication and determination to build closer friendship between the two countries,” said Nguyen Viet Loan.
