THE HANOI TIMES — On October 2, the Hanoi Department of Public Security launched an advanced command and communication center, marking a significant leap in fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue capabilities for the city.

This initiative positions Hanoi as the nation’s pioneer in implementing a smart fire alarm and communication system.

The center is designed to align with national and local strategies, leveraging information technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation to enhance fire safety and rescue operations.

Operating round-the-clock, the center efficiently manages incident reports, automatically logs and locates emergencies, and disseminates critical information to local units. It also facilitates real-time video and data transmission from incident sites, enabling remote command, vehicle coordination, and seamless integration with digital maps, GPS, and camera feeds.

Citizens and businesses can promptly report fires via dedicated apps, hotlines, and alert systems, ensuring swift and precise verification to optimize the critical response window.

To date, approximately 24,500 entities have registered on the platform, and 147 have installed communication devices, as reported by the Hanoi Department of Public Security.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police division aims to achieve full registration of all businesses and households by July 1, 2027, and ensure 100% of wards and communes are equipped with fire safety devices.

Major General Nguyen Hong Ky, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Public Security, emphasized that despite Hanoi’s rapid socio-economic growth, fire and explosion risks persist as significant threats to public safety and daily life.

Over recent years, the city’s fire and rescue teams have responded to thousands of incidents, saving countless lives and safeguarding substantial property. Nevertheless, major fires continue to inflict severe damage, often due to the absence of early warning systems in many locations, resulting in delayed detection, response, and evacuation.

“The Command Information Center represents a transformative step, establishing a state-of-the-art framework for fire prevention and rescue data management, and fostering a safer, smarter capital,” stated Major General Ky.
