THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi is committed to enhancing workers’ well-being during the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month and Worker Month 2025. A range of initiatives will be implemented to improve working conditions, with a focus on occupational disease prevention and healthcare for employees.
These initiatives aim to raise awareness and educate employers, workers, and medical professionals about identifying and mitigating hazards in the workplace. By doing so, we hope to create a safer and healthier environment for all.
The Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC) plays a pivotal role in enforcing the Occupational Safety and Hygiene Law. They are dedicated to strengthening workers’ health care, preventing occupational diseases and accidents, and fostering a culture of safety. This includes maintaining records on occupational environmental hygiene, monitoring working environments, and providing health examinations for workers.

The Hanoi CDC also pays close attention to enterprises with inherent risks, such as those dealing with stone powder, chemicals, and solvents. By closely monitoring these workplaces, the CDC ensures that workers’ health and safety are prioritized.
Additionally, the CDC provides guidance to organizations, helping them effectively organize the Occupational Safety and Hygiene Action Month and Workers’ Month 2025. This proactive approach empowers workplaces to take ownership of their safety culture.
According to Nguyen Tay Nam, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs, these action months are integral to the city’s social security and worker welfare programs. “Our primary objective is to enhance occupational safety and health,” he emphasized. “We have instructed city authorities to improve efficiency and take proactive measures to minimize work accidents, fires, and explosions.”
Nam underscored the critical importance of a healthy working environment for any production or business activity. “Ensuring a safe and healthy workplace not only contributes to the well-being of our workforce but also plays a significant role in reducing and preventing occupational accidents and diseases,” he added.
Relevant agencies and enterprises across all economic sectors in Hanoi are urged to spread awareness about the significance of the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month. Furthermore, regulatory agencies are advised to strengthen their management and inspection of labor safety, especially in high-risk industries and small to medium-sized enterprises, including handicraft villages. Strict penalties will be imposed on enterprises and individuals who fail to uphold work safety standards, as emphasized by Nam.
