Ha Nam Wins Award for Best Regional Cultural Destination in 2023

Vietnam has received numerous accolades at the prestigious World Travel Awards 2023, taking home three top honors. These include Vietnam's Leading Cultural Destination, Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination, and the World's Leading Regional Cultural Destination. Ha Nam, a remarkable province in Vietnam, was the proud recipient of these esteemed awards.

This is the first time Ha Nam won the World’s Leading Regional Cultural Destination (World Travel Awards).

The Vietnamese province overcame many other excellent competitors, namely George Town City (Malaysia), Gjirokastër City (Albania), Kathmandu Valley (Nepal) and Oaxaca City (Mexico).

Ha Nam is located at the southern gateway of Hanoi, about 65 km from the capital city. The local festival season usually takes place from January to March every year. The Buddha’s birthday falls on the full moon day of April (lunar calendar), suitable for visiting temples.

The province focuses on developing ecological and culinary tourism with historical relics, landscapes and famous craft villages. One of Ha Nam’s most popular destinations is Tam Chuc Cultural Complex. This is a large complex of spiritual landscapes, including Tam Chuc Pagoda, known as one of the largest pagodas in the world. The complex is known for its majestic, pristine natural landscape, attracting both local and international visitors who want to experience the rich Buddhist cultural values ​​of the S-shaped country.

The World Travel Awards is considered the “Oscars” in the field of tourism, to recognize, reward and honor outstanding names in all sectors of the global tourism industry. The gala ceremony of the World Travel Awards 2023 was recently held in Dubai. In 2023, at the national level, Vietnam will be honored as “World’s Leading Heritage Destination 2023”. This is the 4th time Vietnam has received this award, the previous 3 times were in 2019, 2020 and 2022.

The title of World’s Leading Heritage Destination once again affirms the abundant potential as well as the attractive value of Vietnam’s long-standing cultural heritage.
