Ha Long Bay: One of the World’s Top 10 Must-See Natural Wonders

Ha Long Bay, located in the northern province of Quang Ninh, has been recognized as one of the world's top 10 most-visited natural wonders by The Travel, a renowned magazine in the United States.

Ranked fourth on the list, the Vietnamese UNESCO World Heritage Site is Ha Long Bay, according to The Travel. The country of Vietnam is known for its distinct beauty, which includes the stunning Ha Long Bay. Each year, the bay attracts around 2.6 million visitors with its emerald waters and nearly 2000 limestone islands and islets. Hikers, swimmers, divers, and rock climbers are all drawn to this incredible site, as it offers a variety of activities for nature enthusiasts.

The Travel recommends visiting Ha Long Bay in the months of March, April, September, or October for the best experience. Located just a two-hour drive from Hanoi, this popular travel destination was recognized as a World Heritage Site by the World Heritage Committee in 2000 due to its exceptional geological and geomorphological value.

Fodor’s Travel, a trusted resource offering expert travel advice for nearly eight decades, includes Ha Long Bay in its list of the top 25 natural wonders in Southeast Asia. Additionally, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) of Hong Kong (China) names Ha Long Bay as one of the most popular attractions in Asia.

In 2022, Ha Long Bay was featured on the Canadian travel publication The Travel’s list of the most beautiful places in the world. It was also recognized as one of the 50 most beautiful natural wonders on Earth by US-based magazine Insider. CNN Travel included the bay on its list of the top 25 most beautiful places worldwide.

Other natural wonders in the top 10 most-visited list include the Grand Canyon in Arizona (USA), Table Mountain in South Africa, Moraine Lake in Canada, the Matterhorn in Switzerland and Italy, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Arches National Park in the USA, the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil, and Guanabara Bay in Brazil.

April to June: This period provides an ideal opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life by visiting Ha Long. The weather is warm and mostly sunny during these months, making it perfect for sightseeing and spending time at the beautiful beaches.

June to August: This is the peak season, with many families choosing to visit Ha Long Bay during their summer vacation. As a result, the number of tourists increases, as well as the price of accommodations and services. It is advised to plan your trip in advance to ensure a cost-effective and enjoyable experience.

From late November to Tet Holiday: During this time, Ha Long Bay welcomes a large number of foreign tourists. Compared to the peak season, it is relatively less crowded, allowing visitors to have a more private and immersive experience of Ha Long tourism.
