Cuba collaborates with Vietnam to advance the healthcare sector

At the meeting to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Cuba (January 1, 1959-January 1, 2024), Ariadne Feo Labrada, the Cuban consul general in Ho Chi Minh City, discussed the collaboration between the two countries in the healthcare sector. The event was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations on January 15th.

Truong Thi Hien, president of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, spoke at the ceremony and highlighted the strengthening and development of solidarity, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba in various fields including politics, economics and trade, defense and security, agriculture, construction, education, health, biotechnology, transportation, and sports over the past half-century.

Economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries continue to grow steadily, with the aim of reaching a bilateral trade turnover of US$500 million by 2023.

2023 marks the 70th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks by the Cuban people and the 50th anniversary of Cuban President Fidel Castro’s visit to the liberation zone of Southern Vietnam in Quang Tri, as mentioned by Truong Thi Hien.

Exchange activities between Vietnam and Cuba are consistently taking place.

The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association has organized multiple activities to enhance and develop friendship between the people of both countries.

In the future, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City commits to closely collaborating with the Cuban Consulate General to organize friendship, cultural, and artistic events between the people of Vietnam and Cuba.

Ariadne Feo Labrada, consul general of the Republic of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that Vietnam and Cuba have achieved significant results in their cooperative relations in 2023.

Specially, Cuba has started cooperating with Ho Chi Minh City in the field of basic health care and implementing the family doctor model. Cuba hopes to further collaborate and implement the cooperation agreement to support Ho Chi Minh City in this field.

Ariadne also affirmed Cuba’s commitment to making efforts to restore and develop economic, trade, and investment relations with Vietnam. Cuba also seeks to coordinate with Vietnam in promoting youth exchange activities.

Cuba continues to uphold its good traditions and foster the special solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
