As outlined by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, Con Dao’s forthcoming bus network will encompass six routes, collectively spanning roughly 74 kilometers. These routes are anticipated to service approximately 90% of the island’s road infrastructure.

The fleet will include electric buses with seating capacities ranging from 28 to 60 passengers, particularly those connecting the island’s central hub to Con Dao Airport, a distance of approximately 17km.

Designated as Route No.173, this service will operate daily from 5 AM to 8 PM, with each journey taking around 30 minutes and departures scheduled every 15 minutes.

Subsequent to the launch of Route No.173, the HCMC Department of Construction intends to progressively introduce the remaining electric bus routes in follow-up phases.

By 2026, the city aims to extend the electric bus network to cover additional routes in Con Dao and other coastal regions within its jurisdiction.

Dubbed “the most enigmatic island on earth” by Lonely Planet and Travel + Leisure, Con Dao comprises 16 mountainous islands and islets, encompassing a total land area of 75 square kilometers and a resident population of 5,000.

Con Dao Island stands as one of Vietnam’s most breathtaking and pristine island getaways.

Formerly recognized as a colonial penal colony, Con Dao has since transformed into a renowned destination celebrated for its untouched beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and verdant forests safeguarded by Con Dao National Park.

The island also holds significant historical importance, housing the iconic Con Dao Prison and Hang Duong Cemetery, the final resting place of national heroine Vo Thi Sau.

Through the establishment of eco-conscious resorts and turtle conservation initiatives, Con Dao has emerged as a quintessential representation of Vietnam’s harmonious fusion of natural splendor, rich history, and sustainable tourism practices.
