Ke Nenh village, Thanh Minh commune
Only 5 km from the city center, you will be able to see the sea of white clouds floating in the middle of the valley with vast terraced fields.
This village is located on the route to the infamous Muong Phang Headquarter, also known as Headquarter of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign – a must-visit destination when coming to Dien Bien.

Tang Quai Pass, Muong Ang District
Tang Quai pass is 11km long, located on Highway 279 from Dien Bien Phu city to Muong Ang district. With a sea of clouds overflowing the Ang Nua valley throughout the four seasons of the year, Tang Quai pass is an attractive place for many tourists, especially young people.
They love the photogenic rock cliff because when climbing to this cliff, you will feel like entering the gate to heaven.

Tua Chua district
Next is Tua Chua, a mountainous district in the Northeast, nearly 130km from Dien Bien Phu city.
With diverse terrain, many hills, and mountains, there are plenty of beautiful places to watch the sea of clouds here such as Sinh Phinh Commune, Sin Chai Commune, Muong Bang Commune.
In addition to watching the beautiful sea of white clouds, you can also enjoy immersing yourself in the charming river scenery when taking a boat to visit the lake bed of the Da River flowing through the territory of the Tua Chua district.

Pha Din pass
The Pha Din Pass is one of the biggest passes in the north of Vietnam. The road runs around 32 kilometers in length and at its highest point of altitude is 1648 meters above sea level. It is on the border of 2 provinces in the northwest, Son La and Dien Bien.

The pass got its name from the local Thai minority – Pha means Heaven and Din Means Earth. It is a massive mountain and in the colder months, the clouds are indeed touching the earth. The Vietnamese know it as Đèo Pha Đin.
Visit Dien Bien now and have an amazing photoshoot on the pass. You can even rent minority outfits if you really want to get into this local heritage.
Pha Din pass opens a colorful picture, the pass bends like a silk strip leaning against the cliff where there is cool green grass. The wind blew wildly, standing on the top of the pass was floating with clouds, the sunlight inlaid the scenery with a bright yellow color. You will feel like you are standing in heaven, raising your hand to collect the whole sky. The cool air makes the spirit even more excited.
Please keep in mind that you need to be prepared, read the weather forecast before you hit the road. If the temperature is too low, fog will appear, if the temperature is too high or the wind is strong, the sky will often be too sunny.
Your chance of cloud hunting will also depend on your luck. Sea of clouds often appears in the valleys when the outdoor temperature ranges from about 10-22 degrees Celsius.
