2024 US Election Progress and its Implications for Vietnam’s People-to-people Diplomacy

On April 16, in Hanoi, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations convened a discussion concerning "Information about the 2024 US Election".

The discussion was chaired by Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and leaders and officials of departments and divisions under the standing agency of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

At the discussion, Nguyen Nang Khieu, Deputy Director of the Americas Department, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations presented general information about the US political and election system; campaigns of the candidates; analysis and commentary on the 2024 US presidential election; and its implications for the Vietnam’s people-to-people diplomacy.

Delegates discussed factors that could affect the election results; candidates’ stances; the impacts of the election on the world situation and on Vietnam.

In his concluding remark, Phan Anh Son said that the 2024 US presidential election is an important event. Departments and Divisions under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations need to continue to closely watch the election progress, especially through people-to-people channels, thereby promptly grasping the situation to serve advisory and research tasks.
