Vu Hai Quang, VOV vice president, says that the event is being held with the aim of providing aid to underprivileged people as they struggle to overcome difficulties relating to fighting the COVID-19. Quang calls on other benefactors in Vietnamese society to continue co-ordinating efforts with VOV to promote similar charitable activities.

Organisers prepare 700kg of rice for the initial, with additional rice being delivered between 9am and 11am every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week.
Ngo Thi Hop, 68, says the charity programme will serve to help poor people like her in order to live a better life amid fears surrounding the COVID-19, displaying gratitude to benefactors for such a contribution.

An array of street vendors and patients from nearby hospitals receive rice and cash once at the gate of VOV’s headquarters on 58 Quan Su street in Hanoi.
People are provided with paper bags in order to store their rice.
