Hanoi-based artist Thu Hien has perfected the art of preserving the ephemeral beauty of fresh flowers through her unique craft. Using epoxy casting technology and her expertise in flower preservation, she creates stunning flower lamps that capture the essence of iconic Hanoi landmarks.

A Story of Emotional Significance

Hien’s journey began with a touching story of a customer who bought fresh flowers for his wife battling cancer. Understanding the man’s desire to preserve these sentimental flowers forever, Hien set out on a mission to find a way to prolong their beauty.

As a florist with a deep passion for her craft, Hien experimented with various techniques and faced many challenges. She persevered, determined to create artistic and useful products that would stand the test of time. After much trial and error, she discovered the use of epoxy glue, specifically designed to her requirements, which allowed her to create permanent flower lamps.

Hien’s products quickly gained recognition, with a recent order of 1,000 flower lamps for export abroad. Her creations are more than just lamps; they are a celebration of Vietnamese culture and the enduring beauty of nature.

A Labor of Love and Artistic Expression

With over 12 years of experience in the flower industry, Thu Hien’s passion for flower art is evident in her intricate process. She carefully selects flowers with bright colors and thick petals, incubating them in silica gel to retain their vibrancy. Through a series of delicate steps, she transforms these flowers into breathtaking works of art.

“Creating a 3D flower lamp is a meticulous process,” Hien explains. “It involves pouring layers of epoxy glue, arranging the flowers, and adding background glue. After drying and polishing, the product is attached to a base, resulting in a stunning flower lamp.” The entire process can take up to 20 days, depending on the complexity of the design.

In addition to her standard collection, Hien also offers personalized flower lamps, allowing customers to preserve their most memorable moments. Her creations are a testament to the deep emotions and stories that flowers can convey.

Thu Hien’s passion for Vietnamese culture shines through in her latest collection, featuring famous landmarks such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and the iconic Hanoi Flagpole. These flower lamps are more than just decorative pieces; they are a fusion of art and cultural heritage.
