THE HANOI TIMES — Following its administrative merger with the neighboring provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is strategically positioned to emerge as a premier sustainable tourism hub in Southeast Asia. This ambitious vision is championed by the city’s Department of Tourism.

The tourism sector is actively crafting distinctive experiences centered around integrated, immersive itineraries. A standout offering is the “From the City to the Sea via the River” tour, seamlessly connecting the urban heart of HCMC with lush riverside ecological zones and luxurious coastal resorts.

Another highlight is the “Marine Culture” tour, which celebrates the spiritual depth, heritage, and ecological beauty of coastal destinations.

To cater to diverse visitor preferences, HCMC is spotlighting themed attractions such as culinary adventures, vibrant night tourism, and authentic traditional craft villages. These initiatives aim to deliver tailored experiences for both domestic and international travelers.

In a bid to boost tourism, the city has curated high-profile events. The HCMC International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC) remains a pivotal platform for engaging regional and global markets. Simultaneously, HCMC Tourism Week has expanded its reach, now encompassing new destinations and innovative products. A series of cultural festivals further underscores the city’s identity as a dynamic, creative, and culturally vibrant destination.

Aligned with its 2030 strategic vision, the Department of Tourism aims to establish HCMC as a top-tier tourist destination in Southeast Asia, inspiring innovation and setting benchmarks for Vietnam’s tourism sector at large.
