Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival excites crowds in Hai Duong

The Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2019 opened in the northern province of Hai Duong on September 15, the 17th day of the eighth lunar month, with thousands of thrilled local residents and tourists in attendance.

The festival was held to mark the 719th anniversary of the death of General Tran Hung Dao, also known as Tran Quoc Tuan.

In attendance at the event alongside Hai Duong province’s local authorities were Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and Voice of Vietnam President Nguyen The Ky.

A large parade which saw the participation of thousands of fishermen and martial artists was the highlight of the festival with approximately 50 boats sailing on the Luc Dau river.

The event aims to reenact the three struggles of the Tran dynasty’s army against the Mongolian invaders and honour the contributions made by General Tran Hung Dao.
