The Battle on March 14, 1988, will always be remembered by the Vietnamese people. In this photo, leaders from Khanh Hoa province, former leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, and leaders from the Fourth Regional Command of the Vietnam People’s Navy pay their respects to the fallen soldiers.
During the ceremony, Colonel Bui Van Ben from the Fourth Regional Command recounted the heroic and selfless deeds of the navy force during the intense battle. He reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty.
Major Colonel Tran Thi Thuy, daughter of martyr Tran Van Phuong, who was among the 64 fallen soldiers, couldn’t hold back her tears as she witnessed the portraits and war memorabilia of her father and his comrades.
In memory of the fallen soldiers, the Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial was constructed from 2015 to 2017 in Cam Hai Dong commune, Khanh Hoa province. This site stands as a testament to the history of protecting maritime and island sovereignty and the heroic sacrifices made by our ancestors.
