A Welcome Ceremony Held for Australian Prime Minister in Hanoi
On the morning of June 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a welcoming ceremony for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who is in Vietnam for an official visit from June 3 to June 4.

This is the first official visit to Vietnam of PM Albanese since he took office, which takes place just two months after a State visit of the Governor-General of Australia, David Hurley.
After the official welcome ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Australian counterpart have a brief meeting, hold talks, witness the exchange of documents, and meet with the press.
The visit by PM Albanese is expected to consolidate political trust and all-around cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of politics, diplomacy, security, defence, economy, investment, labour, technology, climate change response, and people-to-people exchanges.

Vietnam and Australia established diplomatic relations in February 1973, then their ties were upgraded to a strategic partnership in March 2018.
As of April 2023, Australia run 596 investment projects in Vietnam with a total investment capital of nearly US$2 billion, focusing on the fields of processing, manufacturing, accommodation services, healthcare, social welfare, agriculture, forestry and fishery.
After their talks and the signing of documents, the Australian PM is set to meet with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. The Australian leader is also scheduled to join with PM Chinh in an exchange event with the women’s football teams of Australia and Vietnam.
