Ninh Binh Province in northern Vietnam has been named the seventh most welcoming destination in the world by Booking.com, an online travel agency based in the Netherlands. The ranking was determined through an analysis of over 240 million verified customer reviews on the Booking.com website.
Situated around 90 kilometers south of Hanoi, Ninh Binh Province is renowned for its abundant natural and cultural attractions. These include Cuc Phuong National Park, Van Long wetland nature reserve, grotto caves and rivers in Trang An, Tam Coc-Bich Dong and Mua Caves, historic monuments in the ancient capital Hoa Lu, the impressive Bai Dinh Temple (Vietnam’s largest Buddhist worshiping complex), and the Phat Diem Cathedral.
Ninh Binh gained global recognition after being featured in the Hollywood movie ‘Kong: Skull Island’ in 2016. During the recent seven-day Lunar New Year holiday, the province welcomed nearly 330,000 visitors, including over 29,500 foreigners.
Booking.com’s list of the most welcoming destinations was topped by La Rioja in Spain, followed by Epirus in Greece, and Oberosterreich in Austria. County Down in the UK and Mures in Romania rounded out the top five. New Zealand’s Marlborough took the sixth spot, while Limon in Costa Rica, Newfoundland & Labrador in Canada, and North Dakota in the US claimed the eighth, ninth, and tenth places, respectively.
Booking.com’s Traveler Review Awards of 2023 acknowledged outstanding accommodation partners, car rental providers, and airport taxi suppliers across 220 countries and territories. The awards also featured a selection of the ten most welcoming places in Vietnam, including popular beach destinations like Hoi An, Tuy Hoa, Con Dao, Dong Hoi, and Cat Ba.
