The 2025/2026 TasteAtlas rankings, based on over 590,000 dish reviews and nearly 19,000 food product ratings from global users, have placed Vietnam’s culinary prowess in the spotlight. Celebrated for its rich diversity and unique flavors, Vietnamese cuisine boasts iconic dishes such as phở (beef noodle soup), bánh mì (Vietnamese sandwich), bánh xèo (savory crepes), chả giò (spring rolls), quẩy (fried dough sticks), and bò kho (beef stew).
In Southeast Asia, Indonesia leads the region, ranking 10th globally, with Vietnam close behind at 16th. Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Laos follow at 24th, 25th, 29th, 90th, and 96th, respectively.
Globally, Italy claims the top spot, followed by Greece and Peru. Rounding out the Top 10 are Portugal, Spain, Japan, Turkey, China, and France.
TasteAtlas also unveiled its 2025/2026 list of the world’s 100 best dishes, featuring two Vietnamese entries: Southern Vietnamese beef noodle salad (Bún bò Nam Bộ) at 81st and Beef noodle soup (Phở bò) at 83rd.
This recognition comes as Vietnam solidifies its reputation as a premier culinary destination. Earlier, UK travel magazine *Time Out* named Vietnam among the world’s 20 best winter food destinations for the 2025–26 season.
The global trend of culinary tourism is surging. According to the World Food Travel Association (WFTA), 81% of international travelers view experiencing local cuisine as essential, allocating 25–35% of their travel budget to food-related activities.
Research and Markets, a leading global market research firm, predicts the culinary tourism market will reach USD 4.21 trillion by 2033, growing at an annual rate of 14.46%. The Asia-Pacific region is expected to dominate, capturing 43.1% of the market share, underscoring the booming demand for cultural exploration through food.
