For the first time, Phở takes center stage in a dedicated festival in Singapore, offering a unique platform to showcase Vietnamese culture, cuisine, and foster trade relations between the two nations.
Under the captivating theme “Phở–Enjoying Together, Growing Together”, the festival celebrated Phở as Vietnam’s culinary ambassador, strengthening community bonds while promoting cultural exchange, tourism, trade, and investment between Vietnam and Singapore.
Singapore’s Minister of State for Defence, Desmond Choo, eloquently remarked that Phở transcends its role as a dish, embodying the essence of Vietnamese family, heritage, and resilience. It’s a testament to how Vietnamese culture nourishes both body and soul, bridging connections across borders.
The festival tantalized taste buds with authentic Vietnamese Phở crafted by renowned chefs and artisans, alongside other culinary delights like banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) and nem (spring rolls), creating a symphony of flavors that celebrated Vietnam’s rich culinary heritage.
Beyond the food, visitors immersed themselves in exhibitions showcasing Vietnamese agricultural products, spices, and tourism offerings, complemented by captivating cultural performances that seamlessly blended traditional instruments with modern elements.
A highlight of the festival was the Vietnam–Singapore forum on investment, trade, and tourism, which brought together approximately 150 businesses from both countries. This forum fostered direct networking and collaboration opportunities, paving the way for new bilateral agreements.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh emphasized the festival’s significance, particularly as it coincides with the strongest period in Vietnam–Singapore relations following the elevation to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The event not only promotes Vietnamese culture in Singapore but also strengthens the local Vietnamese community.
The Vietnam Phở Festival 2025, a collaborative effort by the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, Tuoi Tre (Young Age) Newspaper, Saigontourist Group, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, and the Vietnamese Community Liaison Committee in Singapore, under the guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, took place from October 18-19.
