For the second time, Hoang has made a significant impact at the esteemed Milan Fashion Week, an event renowned globally as one of the world’s foremost fashion capitals, alongside Paris, New York, and London.
Drawing inspiration from the 20th-century lacquer master Nguyen Gia Tri, a graduate of L’École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de l’Indochine, Hoang’s “Lacquer” collection showcases 42 designs that seamlessly merge minimalist silhouettes with exquisite craftsmanship. The collection features handcrafted materials such as leather, velvet, linen, and silk, meticulously sourced from Vietnamese craft villages, where production is both labor-intensive and time-consuming.
Defined by the classic hues of traditional lacquer art—black, red, and grey—the collection elegantly bridges timeless aesthetics with contemporary global fashion trends.
A graduate of Milan’s Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Hoang first garnered international acclaim in 2022 when his collection honoring Vietnamese women was featured in Vogue Italy. He made his Milan Fashion Week debut in 2023 and was subsequently recognized in Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 (Arts category) in May 2024, solidifying his status as one of the region’s most influential young creatives.
Held biannually, Milan Fashion Week presents upcoming autumn/winter collections in February–March and spring/summer collections in September–October. Together with New York, Paris, and London, it is celebrated as one of the “Big Four” pillars of the global fashion industry.
