With their exquisite and nuanced flavors, Vietnamese culinary delights not only captivated local visitors but also played a pivotal role in showcasing Vietnam as a warm and welcoming nation to the global community.

The bazaar, a collaborative effort by the diplomatic missions of ASEAN member states and the Chinese Embassy in Venezuela, aimed to bolster national branding, foster cultural exchange, and strengthen the bonds of friendship with Venezuela. The event drew a distinguished audience, including representatives from Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, various government ministries, political and social organizations, businesses, Caracas residents, and the international diplomatic corps.

In his opening address, Indonesian Ambassador Fikry Cassidy, current chair of the ASEAN Committee in Caracas (ACC), highlighted ASEAN’s status as a cradle of one of the world’s most diverse and unique cultures. He emphasized that unity and consensus are the cornerstone of ASEAN’s strength, and the bazaar served as a valuable platform to deepen mutual understanding and cultural ties among ASEAN, China, and Venezuela.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My remarked that the event provided an excellent opportunity to spotlight Vietnam’s cultural and culinary heritage, thereby advancing cultural diplomacy, international cooperation, and friendship between ASEAN–China and Venezuela.

Vietnam’s pavilion at the exhibition area left a lasting impression on visitors with its authentic national charm, featuring the elegant Ao dai (traditional long dress), iconic conical hats, intricate handicrafts, and delectable traditional dishes. The flavors of banh mi, spring rolls, and Vietnamese coffee emerged as the event’s highlights, underscoring the growing allure of Vietnamese culture across Latin America and reaffirming Vietnam’s dynamic role in global cultural exchange.

Many attendees expressed their admiration for Vietnamese cuisine. “I’ve heard so much about banh mi, and experiencing it here was truly special,” shared Maria Fernanda, a Caracas resident. “The perfect blend of warm, crispy bread, fresh vegetables, and rich sauce was unforgettable.”

Local entrepreneur Guillermo Torres echoed similar sentiments: “Vietnamese cuisine is a masterpiece of refinement and balance. The spring rolls were exceptional, with fresh ingredients and a subtle yet profound flavor.”

Japanese Ambassador to Venezuela Yasushi Sato also lauded the distinctive taste of Vietnamese banh mi and coffee, while commending Vietnam’s cultural promotion efforts at the event.
